Overview

Rent a Parking is a location-based marketplace that lets people rent out unused driveways, garages and parking spots. Purpose-built for parking, it prioritises a map-first experience so users explore listings visually, filter by location and connect with space owners. Mintek designed and built the platform with a React and TypeScript front end, Node-based services and Mapbox integration, with structured listing data intended to scale across Canadian cities.

The challenge

Finding and listing parking is fragmented and manual. The platform needed map-based discovery, fast location search and listing management that could scale across multiple cities while remaining discoverable in search.

Project FAQs

What is Rent a Parking?

Rent a Parking is a location-based marketplace that lets people rent out unused driveways, garages and parking spaces. Mintek designed and built it as a map-first web application, with location search, geographic filtering and listing management, on a foundation intended to scale across Canadian cities.

No. Rent a Parking is a responsive web application, not a native mobile app. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and desktops, with a map-first interface built for on-the-go use. This case study is an example of our custom software and marketplace development, not mobile app development.

Yes. Rent a Parking shows our approach to custom marketplaces: map-based discovery, location search, structured listings and marketplace SEO. We can build a two-sided or location-based marketplace for your industry, usually starting with a focused first version that proves the core loop before expanding. See our marketplace development service for details.
